All right, so, I've been here for a couple weeks now and it doesn't look like I'm going anywhere, so I'd better quit ignoring everyone who isn't either my dog or a doomsday machine operator.

Couple of things: since I guess I'm keeping the dog, I should probably get her to stop freaking out about everything. I mean, everything. One of those stupid raccoon rabbits spent five minutes chasing her around in circles last week. And she couldn't get away from it so I had to pick her up and carry her away. I'm pretty sure I'm the only thing that doesn't completely terrify her. I don't know anything about dogs, though, so I dunno how to get her to settle down.

Also, I haven't seen a single vehicle since I got here. What gives? There's gotta be, like, a bus system or a subway or something somewhere, right? I haven't been sent to the past and we all know what a car is? Because it is way too cold for me to keep trudging around outside. I didn't exactly get the chance to pack some warm winter clothes before I left. Where's the nearest transportation center from Violet?

And how do you get the music to shut off? I've checked all the Pokégear's menus and tried messing with the radio, but nothing. Even if I try turning it off, it keeps playing those dumb beeping tunes! The same one's been playing again and again for days now and it's driving me crazy!

I think that's all for right now. Not that I understand most of what's going on here besides that, but I should ask about stuff I'm actually gonna get real answers to.

Actually, this one's a long shot, but if anyone knows a Light here, tell him Clover's looking for him. I know, I know, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

1. There's no transport system like cars or buses here. Closest you'd get is the train going between Johto and Kanto. Otherwise, you're stuck travelling on foot unless you have a Pokemon or a bike to ride on.

2. Nope, no way to turn off the music. You can go to the radio to change what you're listening to until something override it. But no sweet, blessed silence.

You're kidding me.

I got a smartphone just for being here, and there's whatever ridiculous technology that can put the dog in the capsule, and you're telling me we haven't figure out cars. Or volume knobs or off buttons.

I'm pretty sure we do have the technology for cars, but I guess no one really want to establish it. That or no one thought of it yet.

As for the music, I think that's due to the world itself than anything manmade.

The world itself? What, are you trying to tell me it's got a mind of its own or something? Are their giant speakers in the core of the planet?

Not really. I'm thinking the music is more like an everyday fact about this world, like there's air, water and plant life.

Although, it would be fun to find out if there are giant speakers deep down underground.

It would be fun to find the speakers so we could turn them off. There's gotta be a better explanation than "it's just kinda there," come on.

Probably. But how are you going to find that explanation? The music's everywhere, so pinpointing the possible source would be rather hard.

I think I got here about two weeks ago now? I was waiting either for things to start making sense on their own or for me to wake up, and then none of those things happened.

To tell you the truth, I don't think it ever starts making sense. I've been here for months now and I'm still waiting to wake up from this nightmare. So, don't expect to get out of here anytime soon, unless you're really lucky.

How often is "more"? Because even one flying doomsday machine ever was way more than I came here expecting.

It's pretty unexpected, but... then again, I don't know what to expect from this place anymore.

...Well, did you know that this place apparently has gods?

Anyplace might have a god or a few, depending on who you ask.

I think there's god dogs around here somewhere.

I haven't seen any carriages around, either, but there are more than enough people with bicycles, and a lot of people ride their Pokemon from place to place! The flying ones can get you around pretty fast, and they can even take you to different cities quick as a flash if they know the move Fly! I think your dog will get a little calmer if you give her some Pokepuffs, though, and play Head-It with her. They're the colorful macaroon-looking snacks! They really like those!

...You get used to the music, though. The ones for the Routes tend to be the same until you go to a different Route or a city, but if you get too tired of one, try messing around with the different radio stations...I like the song for the Lucky Number Show myself!!

Wait a sec, lemme get all that down...

There's a difference between the move Fly and just flying? The dog can't learn the move Fly, can she? Probably not, but a cat tried to electrocute me earlier, so I better get all my bases covered. Poképuffs, huh... I'll take a look at the store here later. And what's Head-It?

What do you mean I get used to it? No way, there's gotta be an off button! Why wouldn't there be an off button?!

Well, you can ride on the backs of flying Pokemon, yes! But in terms of actually flying to different towns and cities, you're going to need an HM for that. It's kind of weird the way it works. I can't imagine a dog learning Fly, though, I guess it's not too much of a stretch..! And, well, I'm not sure why there isn't an off button! I don't think it's too bad, though. I prefer it over the quiet!

Hold on, let me show you what Head-It's like!

[And so, attached is a video file of Anna with her precious Cleffa; it looks positively overjoyed when it sees Anna holding a red ball of yarn. One can only assume she got her sister to go along and help her record it...]

[The Cleffa happily squeaks as Anna lobs the ball of yarn at the pink Pokemon's head, and it returns it; they bounce it back and forth between them before Anna eventually catches the ball of yarn...]

Where'd you even find that?

Isn't she just the cutest?! I woke up on Christmas morning and Santa Claus left me an Egg, and she hatched out of it! That's why I named her Noel! But the actual Pokemon species name is Cleffa! She's a Fairy-type, and she evolves into Clefairy!

That's what Clefairy looks like! It's my favorite Pokemon!

Evolves? So the little guy you've got there turns into that?

You've got good taste, then! It's soooooo cute! Is there another way to get one of those? Maybe I could adopt one too...

Well, sometimes when two Pokemon of different get together, the girl can lay Eggs! So if I ever find myself with a Cleffa Egg, I'll be sure to keep you in mind, Clover!

Well, yeah, I get the whole life cycle reproduction thing, but I was thinking more like how you got the egg or whatever made the egg.

no you gotta go everywhere by bike until you get a pokemon that can use fly

Even if I had a bike, it's way too cold to go biking everywhere, especially if the snow keeps up! Being however many feet in the air isn't gonna help that!

Ugh, super annoying. I can't believe this place hasn't figured out cars! I'd rather stay here than go for another week-long hike in this weather.

You could get one that you can ride? And get a fire type to keep you warm somehow.

sorry, the only public transportation around here is a traintrack that runs from one city to a different city and nowhere else

you'll have to rough it until you get to Cherrygrove and then I recommend you stay in the Pokemon Center (or a hotel if you manage to scrape together some cash) until spring

trying to travel in winter is so many different kinds of not worth it

But seriously, though, where's the rest of the stations?

I actually made it all the way to Violet! Just because Cherrygrove wasn't exactly ripe for hanging around, though. I wouldn't wish a week of hiking in that weather on anybody.

Is the Center really gonna let me just stick around? I had enough money to stay at the inn since I got here but that's not gonna last, and I guess I better invest in a heavier jacket... And something that's not a skirt.

yeah Cherrygrove isn't a town so much as a bunch of beach shacks all in one place and that's nowhere i wanna be in the middle of winter

but yeah, Centers are free to stay at, they're like emergency community centers

The problem is the fact that they're not like hotels, you'll wind up sleeping on little cots or in the chairs in the lobby and any food you can get there is like, soup kitchen stuff

that's why most people prefer staying in hotels if they have the money

you'll never need to sleep on the STREET though, if there's a Center nearby

Are they really cool with people just bumming around for a while? I guess I could keep paying for a hotel if I picked up one of the waitressing jobs here or something, but I better start saving up if I'm gonna be staying here, and it's a long ways til spring...

I guess having places like that available to everyone is an okay trade-off for the whole walking everywhere thing. Just okay, though. I'd still probably rather have buses.

well I mean if you pitch a TENT in there and don't leave for months they'll probably get a little miffed, yeah

but they're not gonna boot anybody who has nowhere else to go

Most people get sick of trying to sleep in those uncomfortable chairs after awhile and suddenly find themselves willing to cough up enough for a hotel room

honestly you could even work IN the pokemon center

I did that when I got to Cherrygrove, it wasn't bad. and they DEFINITELY wouldnt kick you out if you were an employee

Yeah? I guess I'll see if they're hiring. I was gonna look into the cafés here since I've got the experience but it's enough experience that I'd be pretty happy to never see another espresso machine in my life.

That's really cool, though. It's nice to always have a fallback.

Yeah? And that's enough to get by? Having my weird dog fight other weird animals seems like a way better career choice than more food service, since I guess weird animals fighting each other is how things work around here.

well it's riskier when you're just starting out and your Pokemon aren't that strong yet

that's why it's good to find a job at first, that way you aren't going hungry if you have bad luck battling that day or run into somebody super strong on the road

I've been here a long time so I'm a lot tougher than your average trainers who hang out on the road looking for fights, which makes it a pretty reliable source of money for me
